Jandamarra the Aboriginal story
In the late 1800s a young aboriginal a brought up by white settlers & he befriended a white Australian police officer He eventually turned into a renegade & killed his policeman friend retreating to the creeks His story has been made into a movie due for Australian release Nov 2010 The star of the Movie was in the pub tonight and we became good friends.The other lad in the picture is his brother Leighton & they were terrific company just wish they weren’t AFL fanatics !! We had such a good night pity we are leaving tomorrow & a spectal thanks to the bar staff who are also very friendly !!!

Farewell Fitzroy Crossing hello Halls Creek
This place (FC) is great People very friendly The scenery breath taking..The pub was a bonus First one we e been in since leaving Perth! Virtually on our campsite door step Aborigines we have met here are in the main very friendly as opposed to those in Derby The pub has a list of people barred .. for how long and when they are allowed back in. I also learnt a new word HUMBUGGING sounds rather rude but means scrounging The pub itself has been swamped in recent years with the flooding (pictures in B & W) staff tell me they are itinerant and will move on before Xmas before the heavy rains arrive(that can seal this place FC from the outside world!!) the newish hotel next door is built on high stilts in the event of flooding !! So tomorrow we head for Halls Creek with maybe a stay overnight in the isolation that is Australia !
