A few words on places we visited towards Townsville

Yeppoon (pop 13500)is the major town along the tourist strip of the Capricorn Coast, and is around 700 km north of the state capital, Brisbane, and 40 km from its nearest regional centre, the city of Rockhampton. Long stretches of beaches are the main tourist attraction, while the islands of the Keppel Group, in particular Great Keppel Island, are another drawcard.
Emu Point The first European to visit this attractive spot was Captain James Cook who sailed past the area in 1770. During this time he named Great Keppel Island and Keppel Bay (after Admiral August Keppel) and Cape Capricorn.Today Emu Park is usually visited by travellers passing through on the circular scenic route from Rockhampton to Yeppoon.
Marlborough is situated 102 kilometres north of Rockhampton in the Livingston Shire along the Capricorn Coast. It can be reached along the Bruce Highway, and is the site of the chrysoprase mine.

Sarina Palms Caravan Village tribute

We pulled into the park with a Broken TV aerial and mentioned it to the Palms owner, without hesitation he was on top of our motorhome checking the damage. He took out the broken part, drove me 40 kms to nearest town Mackay where the loveliest couple at the parts shop served us Dennis promptly re fixed our aerial and it is now better than before!! He wouldn’t accept any token of appreciation so today’s blog is devoted to he & his wife Judy.Sarina Palms Caravan Village is the best we have visited in this past year of travelling. Each day morning & afternoon tea are provided daily for free.Regular FREE sausage sizzles are a feature of this well maintained very tidy & clean park Judy also grows beautiful orchids SO if in this area DO stay here and admire the great effort Dennis & Judy have put into this place

1770 ,and it is on the map in Northern Queensland

1770 (it really is a village name)is next to Agnes Water and for visitors is very much one unit. Agnes Water is the northern most surfing beach in Queensland. This little town with the highly unusual name is an environmentalist’s dream as it is home to an abundance of flora and fauna that remains virtually unscathed by modern development 770 was named after the year in which Captain James Cook landed there in the Endeavour. As this was the first place in Queensland that Cook stepped ashore, it has come to be known as ‘The Birthplace of Queensland’.It is nestled in Bustard Bay With the Great Barrier Reef just offshore

Still in Paradise until Saturday

There was an article in the local rag re somebody settling in this lovely place and I felt compelled to write to the editor because of the similarities with his story. Within 2 days my reply was entered into the newspaper and I’m now considered a local !! There is so much to do as Retirees here and much as I loved Perth this place offers a lot more in senior activities Tonight we will be enrolling in the FREE Texas Holdem Competition held in the RSL on a twice weekly regular basis! Other interests will be playing Bingo and joining various other fun things to do which may include lawn bowls !! As of yet we haven’t had time to check the local Golf Courses !Come Saturday AM we are still heading towards Cairns and the surrounding areas and IF our house in Perth sells we fly over BUT there is absolutely NO rush to sell (Living in a bus has its advantages) Ann has also asked for me to book her on a Jet Ski for her 60th next March (Watch out for pics !!)
