We leave the Mossman River area heading for the Table Lands

We had a farewell meal in the small town 0f Mossman and had alook around at the local town sites. There i an abandoned old pub that is intact on the inside BUT vandals have started smashing window and (to me) there is NOTHING so sad as to see a pub closed down !Glancing down a back alley and looking up to a verandah I thought I spotted a bloke with tits chatting to an alien !! On looking again they were a couple of dummies (not the human kind !!) that had been cleverly positioned to catch the attention of people such as me !!We stayed at a BIG 4 caravan site in Atherton and was a pleasure to to be in he night sky was magnificently clear and the stars in the milky way incredible We also sustained a stone chip on our bus window during todays travels !! Life goes on and we will get it sorted down the track Anie has just infomed me in 3 more days we will have been on the road for ONE year ! (seems like a month !)

Leaving Cape Tribulation

We have no crossed back over the Daintree River after a breath taking experience in and around Cape T.People were fantastic, scenery the best in the world even managed to find a pub and have a few beers Life don’t get much better and I have Annie sharing it with me !I have won FOUR free days in an exclusive Caravan Park of our choice for putting a cheeky entry into a local competition!! We have opted to stay in a Sydney venue later down the track (the Park also boasts private en-suites !!!) for this days blog I have opted to enter a “quickie” slide show simply because there are too many photos to display in the gallery form !! We shall do a return couple of nights in Mossman (great pics forthcoming on my next blog) that is a great campsite (considering its school hols here )and again very lucky to secure the top park spot with great river views We are moving towards the Atherton Tablelands as our ongoing adventures continue …..

Daintree to Mossman Qld

We are stationed on the banks of the Mossman River and the back window view is spectacular. We stayed an extra day because we have the PRIME site !!Lazily we have sat outside admiring the peace & tranquillity of this Tropical Paradise, the silence is deafening broken only by the birds singing and I admit I was inspired to have a blow on my didgeridoo (I did keep it low pitched as not to annoy my fellow travellers )We are getting interest in the Perth house and hopefully the selling agents will spread the Mulch (that was delivered a while ago)to enhance a possible sale .Annie tends to worry about those problems but I’m sure all will work out Tomorrow we will leave this grand place and head for the Gulf of Carpenteria (unless we are called back to Perth due to house being sold) I have always since being in Australia wanted to visit the Gulf because it sounds so exotic and I hope I am not disappointed

From Kuranda to Cape Tribulation

We have travelled thru Port Douglas (where we briefly looked around) the coastal drive was terrific with the roads sides almost touching the beach So many kilometres of empty pristine beaches.Upon reaching the Daintree River we HAD to use the ferry to cross over.42 kms of twisting, winding, scary roads thru the dense rainforests lay ahead of us, Annie drove she got us to our destination safely (a few scary moments tho !!)Cape Tribulation is as far as we can go in our bus on the FNQ western side of Australia!! The scenery is unbelievable ! Colourful butterfly’s adorn this place and salt water crocodiles inhabit some sea areas, Cassowary’s are the protected birds and weigh approx 85 kilo s! (why they need protecting I don’t know !! I wouldn’t argue with one!!) Coconut palms adorn the very clean & deserted beaches (looks like a scene from Robinson Crusoe !) The plantation is something that I have only seen in very well heated conservatories ! Plenty of photographs have been taken, sadly they do not do justice to the beauty we have witnessed I have to confess when in the Jungle (only way to describe this rainy forest) I just HAD to do my Tarzan call (and greatly embarrassing Annie!!) needless to say NO elephants or other animals answered the call !!BUT not having worn slippers since my foot problem ,I did today AFTER the huge flying cockroach that had settled in there vacated my footwear !! It is now in Beetle Heaven !! We are still enjoying the best time

Farewell Karunda Hello Port Douglas

After 6 unforgettable days ( 4 of which I suffered Gout!!) we are leaving today (Saturday) heading for Port Douglas .IF we have no word on the house we are selling we will push as far North as we are allowed in our Motorhome (I am in NO rush to sell as we have too much to see around the Gulf of Carpenteria ) I hobbled around the country village type settlement known as Kuranda. The last train down the mountain is 3.30 and the visitors tend to dissipate rather quickly after this time This week has been particularly busy due to kids holidays (should ban school hols altogether !!) Annie has become quite good at photographing birds an flowers and I may just do her a blog of her photos. As mentioned earlier this place was busy today and I had to pay a visit to the local Doctor and the appt was very punctual !!! As we walk near the station the overhead Skyrail is very visible . Occupants waved at us below Moral is IF travelling Australia do try the village life of The Kuranda We are also spending the childrens inheritance with gay (that word used to mean HAPPY) abandon !!
