Bugga !! we forgot to lower the TV aeial and pulled down small parts of a tree ! The aerial has suffered damage
and hopefully fix it late today One good thing out of this is that Annie distresed !! A very good sign of her coming to terms and NOT worrying !!

Farewell 1770 and an free overnight near Rockhampton

we left 1770 after a great night in the Hervey RSL We are venturing further North stopping at a very well maintained freebie campsite and because it is a long holiday weekend (Queens Birthday will it still be a PH when Australia becomes a Republic?) we travelled further North stopping for a brief spell at Gladstone & Rockhampton and Rockhampton is situated on the Tropic Capricorn Signal strength has not been the best SO here are a few more 1770 pics Next Yeppoon and Mo n Tez s daughter

1770 ,and it is on the map in Northern Queensland

1770 (it really is a village name)is next to Agnes Water and for visitors is very much one unit. Agnes Water is the northern most surfing beach in Queensland. This little town with the highly unusual name is an environmentalist’s dream as it is home to an abundance of flora and fauna that remains virtually unscathed by modern development 770 was named after the year in which Captain James Cook landed there in the Endeavour. As this was the first place in Queensland that Cook stepped ashore, it has come to be known as ‘The Birthplace of Queensland’.It is nestled in Bustard Bay With the Great Barrier Reef just offshore

Still in Paradise until Saturday

There was an article in the local rag re somebody settling in this lovely place and I felt compelled to write to the editor because of the similarities with his story. Within 2 days my reply was entered into the newspaper and I’m now considered a local !! There is so much to do as Retirees here and much as I loved Perth this place offers a lot more in senior activities Tonight we will be enrolling in the FREE Texas Holdem Competition held in the RSL on a twice weekly regular basis! Other interests will be playing Bingo and joining various other fun things to do which may include lawn bowls !! As of yet we haven’t had time to check the local Golf Courses !Come Saturday AM we are still heading towards Cairns and the surrounding areas and IF our house in Perth sells we fly over BUT there is absolutely NO rush to sell (Living in a bus has its advantages) Ann has also asked for me to book her on a Jet Ski for her 60th next March (Watch out for pics !!)

Bundaburg and Rum

Today we ventured over to he Rum Brewery in Bundaberg and did the obligatory tour .It is a massive factory and bottles are churned out in their thousands by the day!! One particular employee sits in front of passing bottles and checks for bottle cracks zzzzzzzzz I have been to quite a few brewereies in the UK during my past work as a working mans club secretary and for free ! Here it costs $25 and NOT (in my case) very impressive AND as for the finished product I personally find it revolting and discreetly disposed of the samplings !!Apparently 97% of sales is within Australia !! We venture into a caravan park and the site of it was disgusting SO we travelled approx 50 KMs into the country side and stayed in a lovely site situated on the Burnette River

Weather in Hervey Bay

The rain let us know it was here hit very quickly ! The pre storm clouds were awesome and very colourful. We have a 10 litre water bottle that filled up within minutes (tastes really good too with the added bonus of being FREE!!) Just before the storm a variety of birds gathered around for a free feed ( pity we humans don’t assimilate as easily !) Although we sat outside under the awning watching the rain it was quite warm and a couple of beers added to the ambiance. An evening well spent
