Katherine NT there are Salties & Freshies in the River
this is a very interesting place,The Katherine Gorges are a 30 min drive& the HOT springs 5 mins away.We had the LARGEST dinner ever last night at the RSL club ($17.00) the ber was cheap too. When leaving we encountered our first CANE Toad ,More on them as we go deep into NT Its humid here ( we are airconditioned) and the dip in the Hot Springs was great>The museum we visited was actually an airport during the war ( was also bombed by the Japanese)
First Day in Katherine NT Ive tried to add a bit of music too
Its a Kind of Magic Katherine is a Fabulous town even get a courtesy driver from the pub & takes us home
when we are ready Bloody great
from Western Australia to the Northern Territory
we crossed over the border into NT within ONE hour we spotted a Dingo crossing the road.a snake was crawling along the grass verge on route, a HUGE eagle flew overhead & I had my first contact with the NT Police !! Yes I was breathalysed around 10 am WA time The police were ever so nice tho & its interesting to note the speed limit in NT is 130 but only 110 in WA this country is so diverse with its different restrictions and rules n the different states !! Strangely I can play the pokies here (One armed Bandits) in pubs & clubs? BUT in WA the Burswood Casino is the only place that is licensed to use the Machines !! Oh well we are off to the local RSL ( British Legion equivalent ) for meal and a Pokie Gamble !!
Our travels throught Western Australia have been fantastic.Met some lovely, lovely people Seen some absolutely amazing sights and we will tour again in the future. We are near the border and our clocks will be put forward 90 minutes Hopefully we still have many more advenyures to come and lots of new people to meet Lake Argyle I have gathered some information for those who like to know have a looksee

Stay Tuned we are out of signal range possibly till Sat/Sun we have stunning pictures of Lake Argyll
We headed further North today to Lake Argyle. First impression were what a dried u hot place !! we signed in for 1 night. Got our site and wandered around WOW !!a swimming pool on top of a mountain with spectacular views The pictures tell it all. More excitement ? there is a pub on site !! A short drive to the mighty Ord River Dam was exhilarating !!SO much water all the because of mans ingenuity !! we had dinner in the small pub restaurant and was joined by an old Australian guide & quite a character We returned to our bus and the next door neighbours came & had a drink with us We chatted much about nothing for a couple of hours I’m loving this meeting different people daily and listening to their life histories. Fascinating! No signal for Internet here tho & it doesn’t take much to please u SO we have booked an extra 2 nights Never judge a Book by its cover eh? Stay tuned !!!
This place is so good We don’t want to leave !! BUT Yahoo The Satellite dish is now working !!! The after sales in this remote land is great !Thanks Bob !!
The Ivanhoe Crossing is a very relaxing place .The catfish are HUGE ! but very friendly !!
Still in Kununurra .Will leave Tuesday A.M
One more full day in this terrific place BUT all being well (Thank God I,m an atheist!) we WILL return !!
Fabulous Kununurra & Lily Lagoon (where we are camped)
To the south of Kununurra, Lily Creek leads into the popular bird breeding ground of Lily Creek Lagoon, which continues into Lake Kununurra where there are plenty of different water activities on offer. and is our temp home ! The evening views are spectacular! we sat on the waters edge watching the sun go down when a massive flurry of birds gathered above us and hovered around for about 15 minutes before settling for the night in the reeds. After this activity stopped 1000’s of larger birds flew overhead to an unknown destination, never the less the activity was spectacular Thinking that was it (entertaining as it was) 1000’s of bats then flew over ( we think they were headed for the Mango orchards that are abundant out here.We are actually parked under a very large Mango tree !!) Once they disappeared darkness came very quickly & we retired to our easy chairs for a beer or 2 I LOVE THIS PLACE had I known of it in my early migration days I would have seriously considered living here !
