Oh Dear !! What a piggin Day !!
yesterday was a pig of a day !! reversed into a 4WD and tore me back panel lights of just as we were leaving !! MY fault !! fixed it up with 2 screws and drove 9 kms on an outback track road stoppin every so often to check ( we couldn’t get any screws from ANYBODY) drove a further 300 kms and luckily it held.Spent $50 in Broome on drill/screws & a tube of silicon !! Me n Annie spent around 3 hours fixin it up re connecting wires Siliconin the gaps and after loads of patience it looks better than new !!!! Annie remained very calm thru out the ordeal & is learning rapidly to ‘chill out “
Update
Annie woke me up with a brew (tea) and we relocated the satellite away from this constant wind. Having done that Ann has ventured down to the beach collecting sea shells Being Sunday we had a leisurely day short walk on the beach The tide goe2 out a very long way (reminds me of my hometown beach at Blackpool) & deposits 1000,s of sea shells ( Ann has a good collection already) In the afternoon a mini open market is held on the camp village green (Usually books/DVDs & made up trinkets) Didn’t buy anything The day ended on its usual windy note (getting a wee bit boring now)
Awoke to find neighbours around us on the move & the wind is still around BUT at least the weather is warm Neighbours asked for a demo on our satellite and could we get it to work? Has been brilliant until someone asked!!! Spent most of the day in frustration to NO avail..so? what to do? Have a BBQ and finish me Bacardi off !! It turned out to be a brilliant night ,sides aching with laughter !! met a couple from Egypt ( No I’m not going to walk like one !!) and another group from Adelaide .They had so much fun they left their contact details to meet up in Adelaide (around Nov) stayed up playing an addictive card game on me puter till gone midnight & sod the TV !! the lady from Adelaide gave us a brilliant sea shell (hard to describe) and will put a picture on me blog soon (anyone knowing of its origins let me know)
Annie ( bless her !!) has spent the morning clothe washing while i had to do me blog !! Still windy in Paradise and hasn’t let up since we arrived. The Egyptian bloke has moved to next site to us ( His Motorhome is MASSIVE,needing a special licence to drive!!)tis our last day here Will be spent cleaning up and getting ready to depart for Broome tomorrow
Take a look at we missed at Xmas
Lots of sneezing during the night,,,Outside was very windy and Motorhome doing a lot of swaying (and NO im not doing what people might think I’m doing because of rhythmatic bus movement !!!) Apparently this camp site was devastated last December when a Cyclone hit have a look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adEk9M3gFHQ Take alook what we missed Xmas the campsite has its own mini market selling household stuff plus camping equipment. We have learnt how to put guy ropes on our canopy & will buy matting for the floor area( very popular with Motorhomes/caravans etc & turns the canopy area into another room At the moment it is too windy to put the awning ( canopy ) up Evening we went to BBQ area and coked the last of our RSL meat raffle winnings !! The area is nicely set up with concrete tables & very clean Tonight’s crowd were very chatty and have travelled from Adelaide (where we are eventually heading before our UK trip in Nov) Wind played havoc with our Satellite dish BUT was stable enough for Annie to watch her fav prog (Doc Martin)
Just a few word !!!! More pics soon
Up earlyish & off to Tom Price(90 Kms from here)scenery was fascinating.Tom P very tidy & clean (Mining Town) Highlight on the way back was an Ore train that was at least 2 kilometres long carrying iron ore.Started going down an 80 km track but bus shakin too much SO that particular trip was abandoned !!
Lazy day today at Kirijina Went for a walk along Gorges top and viewed the Circular Pool below Very spectacular. Happy Hour dwindled down to 4 now Everybody slowly moving out Our turn on Thursday .Must have eaten a bad sausage up most of the night with Heartburn !! OK now Travelled from Port Hedland towards Broome took a few pictures .There had been flash flooding & some creeks were starting to flow (we didn’t actually see any rain) Headed towards a bush fir but luckily we got thru (fire was relatively small compared to some of the horrendous fires here in Australia) Once again Huge Train trucks were in evidence & we even spotted a cyclist coming towards us miles from anywhere!! He actually gave us a wave !! we arrived at the 80 mile site after a ‘dodgy’ 9 km drive down a dirt road !! The place is busy and lots of events happening (to be reported at a later date) Sadly NO Internet signal .We have provisionally booked in for 5 nights. Took a walk on the beach (we are camped 30metres away) and there were lots of fisherman .The beach itself is a veritable treasure trove of shells ( I identified Cockle shells that were once in abundance on my local Blackpool beach from the 50.s Sadly no more) The BBQ area is set up nicely and once again met some interesting people (inc a group od oldish men having a few days break from their wives) they had cooked fish caught ealier.Another lady works the cafetreria at the MCG ( Melbourne Cricket Ground ) her husband is a Pig Boner (I was too scared to ask !~! but she a lovely lady)
